Voices

“Media culture and crisis collide in amplifying the voices of doom, anger and the short-run. Or perhaps empty reassurance and day-trading of emotions.

But the other voices, they matter too.

The marginalized ones who might not be invited to have a seat at the table.

The people who have a long-term view.

Folks who see and act…

We hear what we focus on, and what we hear changes how we experience the world.

Megaphones don’t automatically create wisdom or even utility. They simply make some people louder.” – Seth Godin

There are many voices in the fight to end domestic violence and the most silenced are the survivors. These voices are not only unheard they are silenced repeatedly. Think of every time you questioned whether “she” was telling the truth about “him.” He was always “nice” to you.

Why is it easier for people to pick the victim and the violence and the pain apart instead of believing the victim and fixing the broken systems!

We need to do better.

I am hoping that parents begin hard conversations with their kids about domestic violence and dating violence and I don’t mean “don’t date that loser!” rhetoric. Use your words to help kids understand their worth.

The system is broken.

Be a builder of new systems and start in your own home.

Always on your side,
