Just Checking In

It’s been more than a year since we’ve been in lockdown.

I’ve been safe.

Have you been safe?

It’s been more than a year since I have been overly worried about people in domestic violence situations.

Are you one of those people?

It’s been more than a year since I started coaching more than I have ever coached in my life.

Do you need someone to talk to?

It’s been more than a year since the world seemed to have exploded right in front of our faces, how are you managing?

If you think of your life, from February 2020 until now today, August 9, 2021, what do you wish you could have put in place?

Those are your marching orders. You need to figure out a way to put those things in place moving ahead.

If you think about your life from February 2020 until now, what do you know without a doubt that you will no longer put up with or tolerate or pretend away?

Well, again, you have your marching orders. Now you have to make a plan to have those irritations or tolerations out of your life.

What could those be?

  • It could be your own behaviors and what you are no longer willing to put up with from yourself.
  • It could be behaviors of others.
  • It could be the way people speak to you or it could be the way you speak to other people.
  • It could be the job you hate, but getting a paycheck on the first and the 15th, like a good friend used to say, is the thing that keeps you not rooted but cemented in place.

It could be so many other things.

Perhaps you could take a quiet moment and make a list.

Perhaps something on that list will be the easiest to fix.

I don’t know what your list would be, but I do know if you’re reading this, then you have survived 100% of everything you have ever experienced.

It may not be pretty, but you have survived.

I remember when I came in last in my triathlon. It was not pretty, but I finished.

Sometimes the goal in life is simply to finish. On your feet, even if it’s wobbly feet.

So we’re taking a break for the rest of August.

I want to take a break from having to think much about all the things I usually think about.

Not that these thoughts won’t invade my mind, but I’ll remind myself to breathe, to walk, and to rest.

I will remind myself of those things.

Please continue your gratitude journals, every night, one or two things that you’re grateful for that day.

And I’ll see you in September, 2021.

Always on your side,

Indrani
